Today, I learnt more about the new assignment in more depth. For this assignment I did some research on Intellectual Property, and found out that "Intellectual property (IP) are legal property rights over creations of the mind, both artistic and commercial, and the corresponding fields of law."(wikipedia) My partner, Clare, and I discussed many of our ideas that we had on the theme of intellectual property. Clare had many great ideas that ranged from plagorism to selling pirated dvds. I had two ideas as well, one of them were plagorism and the other one was illegal camcording, I thought they were both very good ideas because it was something that happened in our daily lives. Clare and I went to www.mycideocompetition.com for more information about our task, we looked through the guidelines and it is clear that we must demonstrate our understanding of how sound and visuals can be used together to create meaning, in other words, we needed to address the use of sound design that was previously studied in our last assignment. Overall, I thought this lesson was very useful because my partner and I planned and discussed many of our individual ideas on how we could address intellectual property. My group for next lesson is to pick a topic that could express to the theme of intellectual property and start researching on that that so that I could create a script of what to say in the 30 minute video clip.
