May 4 2009 - Intellectual Property
This lesson, we continued to watch the finalized videos. Everyone's videos was shown today, following Clare's and mine. I thought Clare's video was really well done, I especially liked the part of the flashing images following the red texts. Though the one bad thing about it was that there were too many images, and not much footage, so it made the video seem a little boring. Though overall, I thought it was really well made. After watching clare's video, students made comments and feedbacks, also ms. wong. Overall, the comments were all generally about how there were too many images and too little footage. There was also the problem with the font colors. The colors clare chose didn't have much contrast with the background, therefore it made it blend in with the background a little. This made it hard for the audience to read. Ms. Wong told her that if she wanted to improve, she had to change the color of the font, and even though she liked the idea of the flashing images, there were too many images, which made the film look unlively. After Clare's video, my video was shown next. I thought I did a good job, I thought that the setting of the scene and the footage (angles, acting) were all dont really well. I thought it looked really professional, though the only downside of it was the last scene, there were too much text which made the audience not want to read it. After watching my video, students and Ms. Wong made some comments and feedbacks 0n what they liked and how I could improve it. They thought that the setting of the scene was chosen well, and the video was overall quite successful, except for the last scene. There was too much text, which made it really boring. Also, during the film, there was only one person in the entire audience besides clare, this made it look unrealistic, though it was still acceptable because besides the first scene, the other scenes were all shot using close up angles. After watching everyone else's videos, Ms. Wong told us that we could finalize our videos, and improve the downsides that were just pointed out by classmates. I was really relieved because I thought I could have improved on my last scene, and made the video more succesfull. My goal for next lesson is to complete this video, and edit the parts that need improving. Overall, I thought this lesson was really fun because I was able to watch many of my classmates Intellectual Property videos. I also through the comments and feedbacks from my classmats and Ms. Wong, I learnt how to prevent mistakes and avoid them in future videos.
