April 2nd 2009 - Intellectual Property 3
Today, Clare and I finished our storyboards and also discussed many interesting ideas that could make our videos more interesting. We gave each other advice that we thought would improve both our videos in general. Clare advised me to include some transitions when I am editing the footage, because many of my camera angles are either different or the distance is not the same. If i did not add transitions, they the video would look very messy overall. I thought Clare's advice was very useful and I would consider doing it, though it depends on the footage that I will record later. I also gave Clare some advice that she considered. Due to the fact that she considered to change her original topic for intellectual property from "selling fake handbags", after contemplation, she modified it to "selling fake watches". I adviced her to do fake handbags because we were more familiar with places that selled fake hand bags due to the fact that we often buy fake handbags, we knew many places that sold fake handbags, instead of fake watches. After dicussing improvements and modifications that we could do to each others video, we practiced what we were going to do in both of our videos. Since Clare was going to be the actor of my video, I showed her some of the actions that she was required to do in each scene. I told her many of the things she could improve to fit the video in my mind. Due to the fact that Clare was sure about her topic yet, I could not practice any of the actions I needed to do for her video. Afterwards, Clare and I worked on our scripts, we discussed the angles and the distances for each scene in more depth and we talked about the time, the location, who was in the film, etc. Overall, this lesson was very useful, Clare and I both got a lot of things done and our goal by next lesson is to finish capturing all the footage we would record. Since the video is due by the end of easter, we wanted to get things done quicker, we managed and planned the times we were going to go filming and where we would film, hence saving time later on.
