This lesson, I learnt many things about filming, such as many interesting film techniques, for instance changing the effect, and changing the mood of the film, and many more. My group and I, who consisted of Benny, Kevin, Clare and myself, were assigned to complete an exercise called the “Cinematography Scavenger Hunt”. We captured many clips of us doing different things, such as picking up a piece of paper, and walking up the stair, having an engaged conversation with your friends, and typing on a computer. While filming these clips, we changed the effect of the film, for instance a sharp and detailed effect. Another one was changed the atmosphere of the film, making it seem coarse and documentary-like. We also learnt that we could change the mood of the scene by changing the color, which I found very interesting. Overall, I found this lesson very useful, especially because I learnt many of the basic techniques of filming, I thought the activities were a great way to start of a new term.

Good start, Stephie. You can be more detailed about the things you learnt -- how do you think changing the colour affects the mood? How did you do this? By changing settings on the camera? By using gels?
