Film Reflection 2

February 5th 2009

Today, my group and I starting editing the clips we took last lesson. We started by cutting the excess clips, such as many of the clips we took of us walking up the stairs, because we couldn’t get it right until many trials later. The biggest part that we cut was the part of “A student walks up the stairs look up in surprise”, because the clip was either too dark, or we didn’t look surprised. In the end, my group and I decided that we should retake that part, because none of those clips were suitable. We retook about 5 clips and finally captured the perfect clip. Though when we captured the clips onto the computer and re-watched them, we realized that it was just a little too dark, so we used the movie-editing program to make it brighter. After cutting the clips and reorganizing them, we added titles before each part that include the effect and atmosphere of the section. By the end of the class, I learnt how to use many special filming techniques, and editing techniques as well, such as how to use the “blur” effect on the camera, how to modify the colors and many more. I thought theses techniques were very useful, especially for future filming. I thought this lesson was very helpful and very amusing because I love editing films, and our group had a huge laugh about it during the lesson, and it made this session very entertaining.
